Why We Launched Gravity Dental Video

Tommy, Partner & Creative Director, on eight years in dental production and why 2026 was the year to finally give it a name.

Gravity Dental Video didn’t start as its own thing. It started as Gravity.Video, an editing shop cutting together whatever small businesses and startups needed. Dental wasn’t part of the plan. One of our early clients was a dental-focused agency, and that’s where the work took us.

It didn’t take long for us to see the opportunity. Practices, agencies, multi-location groups, all of them wanted to be doing video but they weren’t getting it from people who knew the industry. That was 2018. YouTube looked nothing like it does now, and a lot of the platforms practices rely on today either didn’t exist yet or have changed dramatically. We grew up alongside all of it, the platforms and the dental marketing world both.

That first dental client had us editing footage as a white label partner. One day they called and asked if we could take on the production as well, which began our rapid expansion into on-site filming across the country. Before long we’d built a network of trusted videographers all over North America capable of shooting engaging and informative dental practice videos. Nearly a decade and 500-plus practices later, that’s still how we operate.

From the very first project, we latched onto the same thing every dental video of ours is still built around: the doctor’s personality. Many practices offer some version of the same treatments. The real difference is how a doctor talks about the work and the philosophy behind how they built their practice. Get that on camera, and everything else about the marketing gets easier. That focus on personality over polish is what eventually became the foundation of Gravity Dental Video.

One of our favorite examples of letting a doctor’s real personality drive a dental video, instead of a scripted pitch. This is the kind of dental video production we built Gravity Dental Video around: less performance, more of who someone actually is.

Why now

There’s no perfect moment to launch a new brand. At some point you jump in and hope you land on your feet.

The rest of the industry is catching up to what we’ve believed for years: video is becoming essential to how dental practices market themselves, even for doctors who’d rather not be on camera.

We’d talked about spinning dental into its own thing for years. We had the experience, and we wanted one place to centralize the work, show real examples, and build service packages designed specifically around what a dental practice needs, instead of running it all under the Gravity.Video name. In 2026, we stopped talking about it and launched Gravity Dental Video.

What wasn’t working before was mostly a messaging problem. We were the right team for a dental practice looking for video and photography, but nothing about our name or our site said so clearly. Someone searching LinkedIn, Google, or an AI tool for a dental production expert had no obvious reason to land on us. A dedicated brand fixes that.

It also gives us an opportunity to be more visible in our dental partnerships. Now we have a place to showcase those relationships, to build initiatives that help us all grow together, and to participate in events and communities with a clear identity.

What separates Gravity Dental Video from a generalist

Experience is the real answer. A generalist might have shot one or two dental projects, but they don’t speak the language. We come into a project understanding what drives revenue for a practice, what deserves emphasis on camera, what makes a dental video land instead of blending into the scroll. That comes from doing this hundreds of times, in an industry with specific needs.

What I’m proudest of is our flexibility. One practice wants a technical story built around their equipment and expertise. Another wants to lead with family or community. A third wants the team front and center, and we build around whichever one is true instead of running everyone through the same template. We also push to make sure the video shows the concrete things a patient is searching for instead of a general look at the office. That’s what turns a viewer into someone who books.

A dental practice overview video done the way we like to do it: the doctor’s philosophy, the office environment, and the patient experience, all in a few minutes instead of a generic tour of the building.

Where this goes next

A year from now, success for Gravity Dental Video looks like partnerships with practices and groups that want to be personality-first dental brands, whether that’s a multi-location organization building a consistent identity across offices or a solo practice in a smaller market pursuing the same level of polish. We want to work alongside brands that are trying to build something real.

If you take one thing away from this, even if you never book a shoot with us, I want it to be this: we can help build the image you’re trying to project, whether that’s you front and center, the office and the philosophy behind it, or the outcomes like full-mouth reconstructions and smile makeovers that changed someone’s life. Whatever it is, the goal stays the same: tell that story well enough that someone lands on your website already feeling like they know you and like they’d be in good hands.

That’s the whole idea behind Gravity Dental Video. We’ve been doing this work for eight years. Now it finally has a name.
